SUCCESS, at the British Team Championships

6–7 June 2026 | British MAG Team Championships | Basildon Sporting Village

Woking Gymnastics Club was represented by both the Senior and Under-14 teams at this year’s MAG Club Team Championships, with our gymnasts putting in some fantastic performances against clubs from across the country. The competition was a brilliant opportunity to showcase the hard work and dedication shown in training, with both teams rising to the occasion on the national stage.

Senior Team Secures 4th Place!!

11 teams battled for the prestigious Adams Shield. Representing Woking were Jamie Lewis, Rudi Moriano, and for the first time, all three Porter brothers, Ben, Josh and Oli, competing together in the same team.

The competition began on High Bar, where Ben and Josh delivered clean routines. Josh achieved a significant milestone by successfully performing his release connection in competition for the first time. The team then moved to Floor, where Rudi impressed with a well executed double-twisting double back opening pass, while Oli produced a strong routine of his own. Outstanding scores of 13.8 and 13.9 from Jamie and Ben helped Woking post an excellent event total.

Confidence continued to grow as the competition progressed. Josh, Ben, Jamie and Oli all completed clean Pommel Horse routines, while solid performances on Rings and Vault kept the team firmly in contention.

Unfortunately, Jamie was forced to withdraw through injury before the final apparatus, Parallel Bars. With the pressure mounting, the three Porter brothers stepped up to finish the competition in style. Both Oli and Josh capped their routines with stuck dismounts, helping the team achieve a final score of 227.50.

Their efforts earned Woking an outstanding fourth-place finish, narrowly missing out on the medal positions in a highly competitive field.

Under-14 Team Shows Great Promise!

The Under-14 competed for the Bill Williams Trophy. Woking’s team of Mac Griffiths, Fionn Kelly, William Brierley, Edward Warburton-Gates and Harlee Hean-Baptiste Shand was one of the youngest in the competition.

Despite a challenging start on Rings, the team demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the day.

Fionn produced a particularly consistent performance, successfully completing all six routines without a major error. Mac recovered strongly from some early falls to deliver several impressive routines later in the competition, while William finished on a high with a clean Pommel Horse routine.

Edward gained valuable experience, successfully competing both his Delchev on Rings and his double back dismount on Parallel Bars for the first time. Harlee showcased his talent with a straight Tsukahara on Vault and a well-executed Tippelt on Parallel Bars.

Together, the team achieved a score of 193.30, securing an excellent fifth-place finish.

Looking Ahead

The performances of both teams highlighted the strength and depth of WGC's MAG programme. The Senior team demonstrated they can compete with the very best clubs in the country, while the Under-14 squad showed enormous potential for the future.

With the core of the younger team set to remain together for several years, there is every reason to be optimistic about their continued development and future success. Congratulations to all gymnasts, coaches and supporters who contributed to a fantastic weekend of competition.
