How this affects gymnast membership
A gymnast who joins a local club also becomes a member of British Gymnastics. Historically, clubs have provided details about the gymnast to British Gymnastics to allow us to activate membership benefits such as insurance and to send out their membership pack. Due to the change in the legislation, from October 2017, clubs will no longer be able to do this. Therefore, gymnast members (or their parent/guardian if they are under 16 years old) will need to join or renew their British Gymnastics membership directly with us. Children aged 16-18 years old can complete their membership registration themselves.
In a few weeks’ time, just before the new membership year starts on 1st October 2017, gymnasts or their parents/guardians will be provided with everything they need to know to complete the new membership process. This will be in the form of a leaflet which we will provide you as soon as we receive it from British Gymnastics.
The new section on the British Gymnastics website, including Frequently Asked Questions and the online membership process will be live and available to access from 1st October 2017.
How this affects club memberships
The renewal date for all Recreational, Pre School, Artistic, Adults and Freestyle drop in classes is 1st October 2017. You will receive email confirmation and/or a bar code on smartphones which you/your child will need to show when attending a class. Shortly after you will receive a membership pack including the membership card from British Gymnastics. Please ensure you/your child carry this card to classes as proof of membership.
