The Surrey novice and intermediate team’s competition took place on Sunday 29th April at Guildford spectrum. 34 of our floor and vault competitive gymnasts were split into 10 teams and took part in the event.
The day began with our Novice gymnasts who all had a fantastic competition. In the Under 8 girls category Gracie Beight, Jamie Simons and Ella Carlson showed off their beautiful floor routines to place 2nd as a team. Also in the Under 8’s Ethan Laurent, Josephine Clark, Amelia Power and James Chandler picked up a gold team medal in the mixed category. In the Under 10’s John Burthom and Rafael Bontempo showed strong routines to achieve a fantastic score of 14.40 just 0.10 off the qualifying score to move into the intermediate level. Team mates Scarlett Davies, Issac Mellor and Tom French placed 1st in the under 10’s mixed category. To finish the round Max Pittard, Ben O’Connor, Penelope Holmes and Lilly-May Robinson achieved a total score of 44.30 to pick up the gold medal. Round two saw the intermediate gymnasts compete. Fleur Hall, Jessica Bruton and Tallulah Gurney had a great competition showing graceful routines and powerful vaults. The girls placed a very respectable 4th place. Ada Hanif, Isla Hanif, Charles Dadswell and Freddy Swift placed in 1st position after showing great team work throughout the competition. Poppy Davies, Callie Casbierd and Brogan Barrott also placed 1st in the Under 12 girl’s category. Our Under 14 mixed team made up of Amber Mays, Holly Scanlon, Christian Ragnoli and Luca Ragnoli picked up a gold team medal. And finally Amani Ali, Jack Dadswell, Elenor Pearson and Elwyn Dury also placed in 1st in the Under 12 Mixed group. Well done to all of the gymnasts on a very successful day bringing back a massive total of 7 gold and 1 silver team medals.
