Click hereOn Sunday 25th March, 24 of our floor & vault competitive gymnasts took part in the Surrey ABSG competition held at Weybourne Gymnastics Club. Our 9 Advanced girls began the competition in round one. For Tegan Fookes, Olivia Kraus, Lexi Freeman, Laura Kersley and Niamh Strange it was their first competition at advanced level and having to perform a floor routine to music. Their hard work showed as they performed their routines with confidence. Lexi went on to perform a controlled vault to place in 3rd position within her age category. Laura also performed a very powerful vault picking up the Gold medal just ahead of team mate Esme Finch. Amelia England showed off her floor routine and despite a small mistake placed in second position. Aria Gholkar performed a very graceful floor routine but had a small mistake on vault to finish her competition. The round was completed with Olivia Pearson who picked up a Gold medal after a very strong competition.
In the second round our gymnasts were a force to reckon with picking up a total of 13 individual medals between them. In the bronze level Laila Greene picked up a silver medal and Riley Morris, Tamara Venter and Leila Ricketts all placed first within their respective age groups. All of the girls showed polished and powerful floor routines. The Silver category was extremely tough competition Trupti Rao and Megan Lenton despite small mistakes on floor both gymnasts showed great improvements with their vaults. Ellie Raby and Jessica Weekes both showed off their newly choreographed floor routines to place in 3rd position. Isabelle Cox placed in second just behind Catherine Brant, both girls had very strong competitions and achieved the qualifying score to move into the highest level of competition, Gold. Also in the silver level Amy smith, Hannah Doran and Ella Davies had a very tight group, Hannah showed powerful tumbles to place third, Ella performed a strong vault and placed second and Amy showed a very graceful floor routine to finish in first position. Our male gymnasts also competed in the second round. Toby Spencer performed his new tumble within his floor routine and picked up a silver medal. Alex Fairhurst showed great class and confidence within the Silver level, He placed in first position and also qualified to move to the gold level competition. Our teams were equally as successful, each team placed in the top 3. In total they gained one bronze, three silver and 3 gold positions each within their respective categories. All of our gymnasts showed maturity and great sportsmanship, congratulations to everyone. to edit.
