On Sunday 3rd December we entered 16 gymnasts into the regional novice floor and vault competition. For most of these gymnasts it was their first experience at such a large competition and they all performed very well.
In round one Rafael Bontempo showed great improvement and finished 4th in a very large category. For Ethan Laurent, Chloe Neep and Gracie Beight this was their first experience at a regional competition and they all produced very strong performances on both floor and vault. Alfred Swift had a fantastic competition taking home a silver medal. Charles Dadswell also having a great competition became regional champion taking home the gold, both boys have now qualified to progress onto intermediate level. Next up we had Maia Harmsworth, Ada Hanif & Isla Hanif. Maia performed a very nice routine to finish in 7th out of 15 gymnasts. Ada and Isla also showed very clean routines to finish in 1st and 2nd respectively and qualifying for the intermediate level. We had 6 gymnasts competing in round three. The boys had a very strong group, Issac Mellor placed in 7th with Tom French and Harrison Iles placing joint 6th. Josh Lines placed slightly ahead in 4th position and achieved the qualifying score to move into the intermediate level. Scarlett Davies had a great competition picking up a bronze medal and after lots of hard work on vault Penelope Holmes performed a fantastic vault to finish in 12th place. In the final round we had just one gymnast Poppy Davies who also had a fantastic competition finish in 1st place to become regional champion and qualify to move to intermediate. A very big well done to all of these gymnasts and thank you to all of their coaches for their support on the day.
