Sunday 10th December we entered the regional bronze, silver and gold competition held at Guildford spectrum. These gymnasts had worked very hard in the lead up to this competition and this showed throughout the day as our gymnasts performed.
Round one began with our youngest gymnasts at this level. Riley Morris performed an outstanding vault to finish in 3rd place and Ella Davies had a very strong competition performing an elegant floor routine to finish in 1st also achieving the qualifying score to move to silver level.
Round two began with Hannah Doran and Amy smith both performing beautiful floor routines to finish 3rd and 4th respectively in a very strong category. Both girls achieved the qualifying score to move to silver. Next up was Catherine Brant who had a fantastic competition achieving a massive score of 17.20 to finish in first place becoming regional champion and moving into the silver level. The boys had a very strong round producing some great routines, in the Silver level competition Travis skeet finished in 5th place, Max Todd slightly ahead in 4th and Alex Fairhurst picking up the silver medal. Last up in this round was Jesse Holmes in the bronze level competition, who after a wobbly start to his floor routine achieved first place and moved to silver level.
Round three we saw some artistic and creative floor routines from our girls. In a very strong competition Isabelle cox, Heather Denham, Sophie Padua, Trupti Rao, Jessica Weekes, Daisy Little, Kate Lee and Isabel Fearn each showed personality when performing their routines. In a large category, Isabelle Cox finished 3rd and Sophie Padua 2nd place.
The day finished with Leila Ricketts who competed in the Bronze level competition for the first time showing maturity throughout. Although Leila had a shaky start on floor she managed to put this behind her and perform two very strong vaults to finish her competition.
Well done to all of the gymnasts and a big thank you to the coaches and judges!
