Guildford Spectrum was hosting once again the South East region grades qualifier on Sunday 9th April. Some of the best girls were meeting not only to define the next regional champion in their respective age groups but also which gymnast will be honoured to represent the region at the forthcoming National finals at the end of April.
First up in Round 1 were the Woking GC’s raising stars Annabella Higgins, Kudzai Musarira and Sienna Neep in Compulsory 5. Quite a display from all the girls but Annabella Higgins was the one who stole the show scoring a whopping 64.500 – highest overall score of the day - to comfortably win the title as well as topping up Bars, Floor and Range & Conditioning. Her teammates did not disappoint either with Sienna Neep coming in top 10 over all with a total of 58.834 and taking the Beam title and Kudzai Musarira coming 2nd on Bars. Next up were the National Grades 3 & 2, where the first five gymnasts in each grade are selected to represent SE region at the National grades finals. To battle for a place in the team was Amaea Dean in National grade 3. Clean start on bars, followed by a solid beam routine, which earned her a place in the top 6 in this apparatus, a very expressive floor routine and vault to finish. A total of 60.151 points and 7th place over all in a very strong line up and grade passed with distinction. Great job! “Grand slam” in Round 3 for Maddie, Farah, Charlotte, Stacey and Lily. Stunning display from all the girls producing 23 flawless routines out of 25, grade passed with flying colours and very well deserved trip to Stoke-on-Trent at the end of the month for their very first National Compulsory 4 final. On top of that Madison Childress won the bronze medal all around with a score of 61.951 and will travel as part of South East region team. Massive well done to all the girls and coaches and very best of luck at their first National final!
