Fenton Manor Sports Park in Stoke-on-Trent hosted once again the National Compulsory 4, 3, 2 & 1 finals on the weekend of 29 – 30th April. As this is National Finals all the girls competed went through a mighty qualification to deserve their place to represent either their Region or if they have scored enough to qualify as an individual.
It’s been a while since Woking Gymnastics Club had someone to represent the club at National Finals but this time the club qualified … 5 gymnasts – more than any other club in the country – in Compulsory 4. Lily Clarke-Moss, Charlotte Barnard, Stacey Mapara and Farah Rothwell were up first in Round 1 on Saturday morning. A bit shaky start on Range & Conditioning follow by Vault where girls managed to composed themselves and produced some solid vaults very good Bars with Farah Rothwell scoring the 4th highest score on the day showing some exceptional work, Beam where girls managed to hold their nerves and hit two clean routines out of four and Floor to finish. Very good competition for the girls over all with a few small errors and top 20 for Farah Rothwell with a total of 59.900 points, 40th for Stacey Mapara and 49th and 51st for Charlotte Barnard and Lily Clarke-Moss respectively. Shortly after, Round 2 began with Madison Childress being part of South East Region team. Despite the tough start on Beam Maddie held it together to produce a stunning routine to end up in top 6 in the Beam ranking. Cheeky Floor followed by solid Range & Conditioning nice powerful Vault and another top 10 spot this time on Bars. Great performance over all to become not only the highest qualified South East gymnast but to end up on the very creditable 13th place all around with a score of 60.300 points. Massive well done to all the gymnasts and their coaches and thank you to everyone who held their fingers crossed and supported us while staring at gymdata!
