Woking girls’ squad kicked off their competition season on the weekend of 2md, 3rd and 4th of March at the “Miss Quatro” cup held at East London Gymnastics. This competition is one of the finest in the country and is designed as a prep competition so girls can try out their set routines.
Woking GC fielded five girls split in to three age groups, all of them competing on the Friday. In Round 1 our birthday girl Maggie Rees competed with confidence and poise and finished 4th overall in Compulsory 5 as well as coming 2nd on Bars and Floor. Even the stormy weather could not stop Farah Rothwell storming through Compulsory 3 to finish in a very respectable 2nd place overall in a mighty competition with a score of 60.983 as well as posting the highest score of the day – 13.500 on Vault. A couple of uncharacteristic mistakes from her team mates Madison Childress and Stacey Mapara prevented the girls from progressing up the rankings, but they managed to show some great work across the pieces. Later on in Round 2 Annabella Higgins wowed the judges in Compulsory 4 with some beautiful work, especially on Beam, where she scored the mind blowing score of 13.00 points. Pure class, poise and maturity throughout and a very well deserved 4th place Over All with a total of 60.350 points. A massive well done to all the girls and their coaches.
