The first weekend in September saw our boys trying out their grades routines for the first time in competition.
The weekend started with our Elite level 2 boys, Oliver Porter and Jamaal Kashim. Oliver finished in 7th place all around, hitting most of routines with just a few wobbles throughout, and a strong pbar routine won him a bronze medal. Jamaal showed some nice gymnastics through his comp but a few mistakes cost him, finishing a respectable 19th all around.
That afternoon it was he turn of club level 2, Tristan Lamble and Illian Taylor were our competitors. Tristan started with 3 very strong routines, but a few weaker routines left him 32nd all around, Illian finished 51st in a steady comp.
The last round of the day came our U8 elite level 1 boys, 5 Woking boys took to the stage. Jake Palmer had an almost flawless performance and took away the all around gold along with 3 golds and 1 silver on the apparatus, Ben Porter showed class in 5 of the 6 pieces but a low scoring pommel left him in 7th place, but he took home 2 bronze 1 silver and a gold on the vault with a perfect score of 10. Jay Coote showed some lovely gymnastics finished 13th, Max Veo-Creek and Harrison Lamble showed some good moments but had mistakes leaving them 16th and 17th respectively, these boys will now have a year to perfect these routines and be ready for the Grades next year.
