Sunday 10th December we entered the regional bronze, silver and gold competition held at Guildford spectrum. These gymnasts had worked very hard in the lead up to this competition and this showed throughout the day as our gymnasts performed.
Round one began with our youngest gymnasts at this level. Riley Morris performed an outstanding vault to finish in 3rd place and Ella Davies had a very strong competition performing an elegant floor routine to finish in 1st also achieving the qualifying score to move to silver level. Round two began with Hannah Doran and Amy smith both performing beautiful floor routines to finish 3rd and 4th respectively in a very strong category. Both girls achieved the qualifying score to move to silver. Next up was Catherine Brant who had a fantastic competition achieving a massive score of 17.20 to finish in first place becoming regional champion and moving into the silver level. The boys had a very strong round producing some great routines, in the Silver level competition Travis skeet finished in 5th place, Max Todd slightly ahead in 4th and Alex Fairhurst picking up the silver medal. Last up in this round was Jesse Holmes in the bronze level competition, who after a wobbly start to his floor routine achieved first place and moved to silver level. Round three we saw some artistic and creative floor routines from our girls. In a very strong competition Isabelle cox, Heather Denham, Sophie Padua, Trupti Rao, Jessica Weekes, Daisy Little, Kate Lee and Isabel Fearn each showed personality when performing their routines. In a large category, Isabelle Cox finished 3rd and Sophie Padua 2nd place. The day finished with Leila Ricketts who competed in the Bronze level competition for the first time showing maturity throughout. Although Leila had a shaky start on floor she managed to put this behind her and perform two very strong vaults to finish her competition. Well done to all of the gymnasts and a big thank you to the coaches and judges!

On Sunday 3rd December we entered 16 gymnasts into the regional novice floor and vault competition. For most of these gymnasts it was their first experience at such a large competition and they all performed very well.
In round one Rafael Bontempo showed great improvement and finished 4th in a very large category. For Ethan Laurent, Chloe Neep and Gracie Beight this was their first experience at a regional competition and they all produced very strong performances on both floor and vault. Alfred Swift had a fantastic competition taking home a silver medal. Charles Dadswell also having a great competition became regional champion taking home the gold, both boys have now qualified to progress onto intermediate level. Next up we had Maia Harmsworth, Ada Hanif & Isla Hanif. Maia performed a very nice routine to finish in 7th out of 15 gymnasts. Ada and Isla also showed very clean routines to finish in 1st and 2nd respectively and qualifying for the intermediate level. We had 6 gymnasts competing in round three. The boys had a very strong group, Issac Mellor placed in 7th with Tom French and Harrison Iles placing joint 6th. Josh Lines placed slightly ahead in 4th position and achieved the qualifying score to move into the intermediate level. Scarlett Davies had a great competition picking up a bronze medal and after lots of hard work on vault Penelope Holmes performed a fantastic vault to finish in 12th place. In the final round we had just one gymnast Poppy Davies who also had a fantastic competition finish in 1st place to become regional champion and qualify to move to intermediate. A very big well done to all of these gymnasts and thank you to all of their coaches for their support on the day. On Friday 1st December the British Under 14 ‘Williams Trophy’ took place at the Surrey Sports Park in Guildford. The 12 very best clubs in Great Britain took part. Woking had a young team competing with Joshua Porter, Toby Splain, Christian Fuoco, Laurence Butler, Santo Fuoco and Alex Donchev making the team.
The boys performed well finishing a very creditable 5th place scoring 258.650 On Saturday 2nd December it was the British ‘Adams Shield’ competition. This is a senior age category and Woking had a team with no senior gymnasts; Tim McCarthy, Jamie Lewis, Lorenzo Carrozzo, Fraser Griffiths and Jasper Smith-Gordon. The guys performed really well finishing 3rd scoring 226.194. Thank you to all parents and gymnasts that came to support the boys.
