On Saturday 28th April, Woking Gymnastics Club was delighted to welcome Ray Morgan, Chief Executive of Woking Borough Council, to the club to provide an update on our relocation plans.
It was great for our staff members to hear about the progress of our potential new facility at Ten Acre and we are all very excited about the prospect of a brand new, bigger facility for all our gymnasts and members of the community! Progress with the planning application has been extremely positive and well received, and we are hoping to hear the outcome of this planning application towards the end of June 2018. If all goes to plan, Ray explained that we are looking for construction to start in October 2018 and be ready to move by Winter 2019!
All staff and trustees of Woking Gymnastics Club are so thankful to have the support of Woking Borough Council and look forward to the coming months of planning!

We will be giving you the opportunity to come in and view one of your child’s sessions towards the end of term to see what they get up to in class and how they are getting on.
We have split the viewing of classes over two weeks, please see the table below for which week you should stay and watch. Unfortunately we do not have a lot of space so you will only be able to attend the week your class has been allocated. Seating will be limited so we ask that only one adult per child in the class attends. There will be other recreational and squad classes running alongside your child’s class so we ask you to be considerate when entering the gym and abide by the following rules:
Due to adverse weather conditions the gym will be shut from 19:00 this evening (01/03/2018). We apologise for any inconveniences caused and will update members of any other closures as soon as possible.
Thank you to everyone that contributed to our Christmas Jumper week! We raised a total of £326.00 which has been split 50/50 and donated to two great charities; Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children's Charity and the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity!
At 18 years old, Jamie Lewis is one of a number of exciting prospects coming through the British Gymnastics ranks. After a stellar 2017, he returns to action this week alongside GB teammates Raekwon Baptiste, Jake Jarman, Pavel Karnejenko and Adam Tobin, as they head to America for the Junior International Team Cup.
Despite the competition coming so early in the year, Jamie was able to enjoy some downtime during the festive season but is focussed and ready for the challenges ahead: “Christmas time for me is one of the best times of the year because I get to try new skills, relax outside of competition and recharge the batteries for the year.
"My preparation for this competition has been difficult as it's the first of the year. I've been determined to have my routines ready and I've worked hard with little time off. I'm really looking forward to competing in America again and getting off to the best possible start to 2018."
After being crowned under 18 British all-around champion in March last year, Jamie went on to cap a stunning year by becoming European Youth Olympic all-around and rings champion after a number of brilliant routines in Gyor.
And the gymnast who trains at Woking Gymnastics Club is looking forward to what 2018 has to offer: "I had an amazing 2017, but I'm going to continue to work hard and hope to have an even better 2018. I'm massively looking forward to hopefully competing at this year's Junior European Championships in Glasgow.
"After that, I’ll be trialling with the seniors for the World Championships where I'm looking forward to training and competing with the best seniors in Great Britain. To learn from Max and Nile will be great and it's something I can't wait for."
Jamie will be in action on home soil at the 2018 British Championships from the 8th-11th March.
We will be offering parents viewing in the winter term from 04/12/17 - 15/12/17 where you are able to come into the gym to view one of your child's sessions and see how they are getting on. Please see the table below for which week you are able to stay and watch.
