After a short break for lunch, the competition resumed with the Intermediate Girls. The competition was of a very high standard but the Under 11 team of Analise Preston, Lauren White, Natalie O’Hara, Jessica Weekes and Emilia Rucinska were not fazed; putting in strong and consistent performances to take home the gold. There was also great success for the Under 13 team, with Amber Malone, Megan Lenton, Della Sakaria and Cathra Plant posting the highest team total of the day and winning the gold by a large margin.
In the final round of competition expectations were high for the remaining six teams from Woking and they did not disappoint. A young under 13 advanced team; made up of Ellie Raby, Rebecca Boddington, Issy Cox, Daisy Little and Trupti Rao were competing against girls much older but showed maturity beyond their years to tie for first place. The boys under 11 intermediate team of Patrik Cockin, William Hinton, Connor Roberts and Rory Stewart did enough to earn gold, while their under 13 counterparts were just edged out by a strong Leatherhead team to take silver. There were also silver medals for the Under 13 (Kaitlin Lawrence, Max Brockwell, Ellie Mae O’Shea and Jesse Holmes) and Over 13 (Georgina Murrin, Rebecca Hales, Aadam Qureshi, Jake Webb and Marcus Underwood) advanced teams. Finally the over 13 advanced girls (Jemma Waldock, Heather Denham, Briony Williams, Tara McCarthy and Grace Ellis) showed their class, beating 2nd place by nearly 5 marks.
Every team member went home with a medal and Woking’s haul of 7 golds and 3 silvers was unprecedented. The day was capped off with the Woking boys doing enough to win the Malcolm Taylor Memorial Cup for the 6th consecutive year. Well done to everyone that took part, your coaches and parents were all extremely proud. Full results available below.
