Poppy Sykes won her first intermediate competition, scoring a very impressive 15.9 making her the top scorer for Woking on the day. Emilia Rucinska competed round off flick for the first time, placing 2nd in the Intermediate 04 competition. Della Sakaria and Lauren White also performed well in this category, narrowly missing out on a medal and placing in 4th and 5th place respectively. In the intermediate 02 girls competition, Jessica Weekes scored 14.85, winning floor and putting her in 5th place overall.
The good performances continued into the boys’ round, Ethan Rouse won the Novice 05 Boys with Luke Ingles picking up 4th spot, only one tenth away from the bronze. In his first competition in Woking colours, Elliot King earned a 6th place ribbon. The Intermediate 02 boys’ competition saw Sam Webb finish in 2nd place, closely followed by Eerik Cocking in 4th. Scott Ross put in an excellent performance on the vault to finish in 6th place overall. The highlight of this round were the vaulting skills of Jake Webb, his handstand flatback vault was arguably the best seen all day and helped him to finish 2nd in the Intermediate 01 Boys’ competition. Kallum Brown also performed well on both the floor and vault to take 4th spot.
Then came the final round of the day, and a chance for our older girls to show their experience. Rosalind Milbourn performed well against tough competition to finish in 5th place. Whilst Karla Schatten and Megan Avery scored highly on floor to take 3rd and 4th spots respectively.
Iona Colbert, Aria Gholkar, Alexis O’Hara, Annabelle Wright, Issy Chaffe, Natalie O’Hara, Rosalind Atkins, Amber Malone, Megan Lenton, Sami Purkiss, Joshua Lytton, Ben Challen, Toby Webb, Ben Gurden, Leo Hobbs and Patrik Cockin were all fantastic ambassadors for Woking Gymnastics Club.
Well done to everyone that competed, your coaches are all very proud. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the parents and coaches, without all your hard work none of this success would be possible. A special mention must also go to Jemma Waldock who gave up her entire Sunday to help with entering the scores, ensuring the competition ran smoothly, thank you Jemma.
