Woking Gymnastics Club had 11 gymnasts competing in 5 different age categories.On Friday the Under 12 age group started their competition. Woking’s Joshua Porter, Laurence Butler, Christian Fuoco, Charlie Rose and Rudi Moriano were competing in their first English Championships. The boys did well with Joshua having an outstanding competition finishing in 8th place scoring 69.10 and picking up a bronze medal on Parallel Bars. Laurence finished 15th scoring 67.65, Christian 36th with 63.40, Charlie 47th with 60.00 and Rudi 51st with 56.75.
On Saturday Woking’s Timothy McCarthy was competing in the Under 18 age group. Tim performed very well finishing a very respectable 7th place scoring 72.601. Miki Chu competed on Pommels in the Senior age category. Competing against World Gold and Silver medallists Max Whitlock and Louis Smith Miki performed a lovely routine to finish 6th scoring 13.60.
On Sunday morning Woking’s Jasper Smith-Gordon and Fraser Griffiths were competing in the Under 14 age group. Jasper performed some lovely routines but unfortunately had a few falls and finished 7th scoring 71.601 narrowly missing out on a few medals. Fraser competed well and finished 11th scoring 69.268.
The final round of the weekend saw Jamie Lewis and rising star Lorenzo Carrozzo compete for Woking in the Under 16 age category. Jamie once again showed he is a class above everybody by finishing 1st even with 4 falls scoring 80.468 and picked up gold on Pommels and Rings and silver on Parallel Bars. Lorenzo has matured into a lovely gymnast and finished an amazing 4th place scoring a personal best of 76.568 and picked up a bronze medal on Pommels.
