On Sunday 29th November Woking Gymnastic Club boy’s squad travelled to Milton Keynes for their last competition of 2009.
The competition started with the Under 12 age category. Woking had 4 boys competing, with Tobias Brewer leading the way with a score of 69.15 finishing in 2nd place. Miki Chu scored 68.9 and finished 4th. Jamie Lewis and Jonty Mitchell performed very well in their first voluntary competition scoring 56.10 and 40.10 respectively. Jamie finished 16th and Jonty 25th. Tobias also cleared up in the individual apparatus collecting 2 Gold medals, 2 Silver and a Bronze. Miki also received 2 Silver medals.
In the next round the Under 14 and Under 18 age categories took to the stage. Tom Defina, Bradley McBride and Harry Carter competed in the Under 14s with Tom finishing 1st (72.95) and Bradley 3rd (70.45). Harry only competed on Floor and Vault due to injury but took home Gold on both apparatus. Woking made it a clean sweep with Bradley winning High Bar and Tom winning Pommels, Rings and Parallel Bars. Bradley also won 2 Bronzes and Tom 1 Silver medal.
Grant Gardiner made sure his younger team mates didn’t steal the show with an impressive performance in the Under 18 age group. Grant won the Overall Title and collected all 6 apparatus Gold’s.
The boy’s coaches; Simon Elliott; Alexander Golich and Nikki Hanley are delighted with the results. Head Coach Simon said “The boys have grown from strength to strength this year and the results have shown this, well done to all the boys for a successful 2009”.
