Veterans Competition 02/10/2010
A 15 strong Woking gymnasticssquad found itself bringing back a handful of medals in the British VeteransChampionships in Lowestoft. Notable results included Adam Stirk winning themen’s over 20’s beginners, with Tomas Warwick picking up the silver in theMen’s over 20’s formers, helping the Woking Men’s team take the Veterans’British Men’s Team title. In a tough Sports Acrobaticsfield Beccy Porter and Tracy Steadman secured the Bronze medal in the Women’spair, with 74 year olds Adult squad coach Mike Steele and Veterans legendDorothy McLennan dusting off their pink leotards for a ‘Benny Hill’ styledroutine following in their footsteps to win the bronze medal in the mixedpairs. Dorothy went on to win the Women’s over 60 category. Beccy Porter added a gold medalto her collection by winning the beginners tumbling competition, with fellowteam mate Sine Rance finishing in the Bronze medal position and then claimingthe gold in the trampolining and the Women’s over 50 Artistic Gymnastics title.
